Unemployment or leave of absence
You must have your pension scheme in mind if you become unemployed, or if contribution payments to your pension scheme are discontinued, e.g. because you take a leave of absence.
We write to you if contribution payments are discontinued
When your employer discontinues payment of pension contributions, it is important that we get in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss your options. We will write to you, but you are also welcome to reach out to us directly.
The insurance covers continue for three months
When your employer discontinues payment of contributions, you automatically maintain your insurance covers for three months (contribution-free cover). The costs of the insurance covers are deducted from your savings.
Three months after the payment is discontinued, the insurance covers are either reduced or discontinued altogether - unless you have decided otherwise.
- You can maintain your insurance covers without paying contributions
You can extend the period that you remain insured without making contribution payments for up to three years. During this time, the costs of the insurance covers are deducted from your savings. Maintaining your insurance covers can be particularly important of you have health issues and there is a risk that you may not be able to return to work. - You can take over contributions payment yourself
You may also choose to pay the contributions yourself. This allows you to maintain your insurance covers without reducing your existing savings. You must contribute as least DKK 2,000 monthly. - You can transition to dormant membership
As a dormant member, you keep your existing savings in P+, but your insurance covers do not continue on the same terms:- If you are subject to P+ Life cycle, all your insurance covers are discontinued (except from a possible pension life cover).
- If you are subject to one of the other schemes, the group insurance benefits, including the lump sum payments in the event of critical illnesses, death and accident, are discontinued. Other insurance benefits such as disability pension and spouse's pension continue, but are reduced.
