Becoming unemployed or taking a leave of absence
You must have your pension scheme in mind if you become unemployed, or if contribution payments to your pension scheme are discontinued, e.g. because you take a leave of absence.
We write to you if contribution payments are discontinued
When your employer discontinues payment of pension contributions, it is important that we get on touch with you as soon as possible so that we can agree on how your pension scheme in P+ should continue. We will write to you, but you are also welcome to contact us.
The insurance covers continue for 3 months
When your employer discontinues payment of contributions, you automatically maintain your insurances for 3 months (non-contributory cover). The insurance costs are deducted from your savings.
3 months after the payment is discontinued, the insurances are reduced or discontinued - unless you have decided otherwise.
- You can maintain your insurance covers without paying contributions
You can prolong the insurance period without paying contributions for up to 3 years. During that period we deduct the insurance costs from your savings.
It is wise to keep the insurances if you e.g. have health issues and there is a risk that you may not be able to work again. - You can continue payment of contributions yourself
You also have the possibility of paying the contributions yourself. This way you can keep your insurances without depleting your savings. You must as a minimum pay DKK 2,000 monthly. - You can become a dormant member
As a dormant member, you keep your existing savings in P+, but your insurances do not continue as before:- If you are subject to P+ Life cycle, all your insurances are discontinued (except from a possible pension life cover).
- If you are subject to one of the other schemes, the group insurances, i.e. the lump sum payments in the event of critical illnesses, death and accidents, are discontinued. Other insurance benefits like disability pension and spouse's pension continue, but are reduced.
