The spouse’s pension is lifelong and accounts for 60 percent of your retirement pension at age 65. After age 65 the spouse’s pension benefits account for 60 percent of the retirement pension benefits you are entitled to.

If you die as an unmarried member before you reach age 70, a supplement to un-married members is paid. The supplement correspons 4 times the annual spouse’s pension benefits which a possible spouse would have been entitled to.

The payment is dependent on that you have not previously received a retirement sum as an unmarried member or a supplement to unmarried members, and  that you do not leave a spouse or an ex-spouse  entitled to spouse’s pension benefits.

The supplement is paid to your next of kin unless you have chosen payment being made to your estate. On payment to the estate, the supplement is not protected from creditors. You can read more here
